Can I get a Chihuahua even though I live in Minnesota?

I have heard that chihuahuas don't do well in cold places....But I really want one. I would put booties and a hat and coat on it for walks and when I let it out I would come out to. But is it still a bad thing? Plz help me...

Just so long as you recognize that they do need to stay warm you should be fine. Keep in mind you will need to shovel the snow for him to do his duty as you can get snow drifts 5-6 times his height. They make wonderful coats and socks and booties and even hats for dogs! My uncle has 2 and we live in KS. During the winter we get a fair amount of cold and snow. they have a variety of coats for the girls depending on how cold it is.
