When is a child considered too old to have a Security Blanket/pillow/toy/teddy/object?
My 6 year old has a Teddy Bear that she carries around everywhere except school only because she's not allowed to. She's had it since she was 1. Yes ONE! To make a long story short everyone (adult family members) thinks she's too old and I should get rid of it. Some of my relatives say I've made a big mistake in letting her keep it for that long.
Other than having to perform surgery on it once or twice a month ( I sewing) I have no problem with it. It's become a party of our "family" (I know weird) but hey it's been around for 5 years.
Is it time for me to say enough with the bear, he's going to bear heaven?
Or should I just let her be and tell thee relatives to mind their own business?

Yes I vote for this answer with a heavy emphasis on telling the relatives to get bent.
Just my opinion but isn't life hard enough? Why would you want to take away a comfort object that someone loves? She doesn't take it to school so she can obey the rules, what's the harm in letting a child have a coping mechanism? They grow up so fast, let her have her buddy.
