Any other mother's to be worrying about financial burden?
I'm having a shower next month and have been registering and what not, but seeing the price of everything and knowing that even after the shower there will be so much left to buy...not to mention the continuous cost of diapers, food, and raising a child in general...any body else worry? It seems like so many people on here just have money to buy everything, even if it's not necessary (my personal no-go is a wipe warmer...) Am I the only one trying to cut some corners?
I have a hand me down crib, dresser, and changing table which I am more than thankful for! It still gets overwhelming at times, though.
Not really, we bought most of what we have second hand when we got pregnant with our first. Saved most of it, and don't really have to buy anything. Just baby bottles, pacifiers, diapers/wipes, and 0-3mo Baby Clothes...that's it. If you go off of what they put in the baby magazine " to get list", about 60% of all of that stuff is unneeded or doesn't get used!!! Seriously we learned that the hard way! lol. A baby only needs so much stuff and after that your just buying to say you bought it.
I have a daughter that will be 4 on Nov.2, and a son that just turned 9 months old on the 4th of this month. I am spending right at 200/mo for everything diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, hygien products-shampoo ect. I do buy all parents choice products for the most part...so that saves me 1/2 off the other brands. Nw with our third and last baby due Dec.26th....we don't have any budget change at all. Our son will be off of formula by then, and I will be breatfeeding for the first 6 months, so we will actually be saving money!!!
It's not that expensive, unless you are buying all the expensive stuff all the time. G'luck....and a word of advice, have a savings set asside! Thats what hits hard, is when something unexpected comes up and your looking at needing an additional 500+ for tires, or medical bills, or fixing the car ect.
Who needs toys when you have dirty laundry to play with??
