weaning from a Swaddle Blanket?
What is the best way to wean my daughter eventually from her swaddle for naps and nightime? She uses a swaddle me blanket and needs it to go to sleep. Soon she will be rolling over and it seems dangerous to have her swaddled and then on her belly if she chooses to roll over in her crib. She already moves all around the crib and turns herself around. Any ideas??
We stopped swaddling at four weeks, as my daughter usually kicked the blanket off at night, anyway, and did the same thing as yours does...we routinely woke up to find her turned 180 degress from the position she was put down in! We switched to a blanket sleeper...my mom made us several with a few extra inches in them so that she could still wear them when she was bigger. You can buy them in stores, though. They are safer than using a loose blanket to cover your baby.
Eventually we stopped using those, too, and now we just put her in a footed sleeper, no blanket. She does absolutely fine with that.
