Is spending 1200 on a very fancy cherry wood crib that turns into a bed later?
worth buying, it would be the one big spluurge i would have bought, but not sure if i should...what do you think?

I wouldn't. I would get a nice one that is cheaper and save the rest for other expenses(or unexpected expenses since those happen a lot more now). This is what I would do if it were me. With the economy the way it is right now and my husband in aircraft it wouldn't be wise but if you are fine financially it's your call.
